This is one of our new offerings, and a very popular short hillwalking challenge event. The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge involves a circular walk onto the summits of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, before returning to the starting place to complete the challenge in under 12 hours.

As one-day challenges go, the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge is quite demanding, covering 40 kilometres (23 miles) with an ascent of almost 1600 metres (5250ft). Approximately half the walk is uphill and the other half downhill. We recommend training for this challenge!

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a popular charity fundraising challenge, and can be quite busy at weekends in summer. We’re happy to support charity challenge groups by providing qualified and highly-experienced mountain leaders.

Most people take on this challenge in summer conditions, though in winter the route can be especially challenging and very considerably less busy.

We highly recommend having a non-walking driver to chauffeur you after this challenge as we expect you’ll be quite tired. Alternatively we’ll happily arrange accommodation in local bunkhouses, B&Bs or hotels, or even a wild camp.

The Yorkshire 3 Peak can also be completed as a team relay challenge or as an adventure biathlon – part on foot, part on bike.

The Routes and Approximate Timings for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge

We recommend an early-ish start, say around 7.30am in summer, earlier in winter conditions, giving you the maximum amount of daylight for the challenge, and leaving time for a drink and a meal at one of the local pubs at the end of the day.

Our preferred route starts at Horton, ascending Pen-y-ghent, then Whernside, Ingleborough and back to Horton, though there are good start points at Ribblehead and Chapel-le-Dale (especially if you decide to eat, drink and stay at the Hill Inn after your challenge).

Bespoke Team Building Events

Thanks for delivering the event for us, and for faithfully converting my vision into reality. Today I have had numerous unsolicited votes of thanks and expressions of delight from members of the QP Group Team. They are not a bunch who are easily impressed, but you succeeded in doing so. You definitely did more than just 'get to the finish line'. Indeed, Robin (CEO) also gave the event a 100% rating. Well done!

The bit that struck a chord with me is that you listened and absorbed what I was looking for, and then went out and delivered it. It is in my experience somewhat rare these days to find a supplier who really does listen to what the client wants - and takes notice of this.
